The Privileges of Being A Member of The Baptist Family at Gorsley

REACHING OUT
1 Pet 2:9-10

Matt 28:18-20

Lost people matter to God and us.  Our aim as members is, ‘To Know Christ and Make Him Known’ at home work and in our community.

LIVING

Heb 12:1-2

Matt 6:33

God has dealt with my sin.  When I am tempted, or when I commit a sin, I can ask God for strength, or forgiveness. I seek to be a disciple of Christ, and so resist addictions to drugs, alcohol, and sexual relations outside the bounds of marriage, or other unbiblical sexual behaviour.

WORSHIP

Heb 10:24-25

Isa 40

I seek to make worship a priority in my whole life.  As an outworking of that, my place on Sunday’s is in regular church worship.

READING

1 Pet 2:2-3

The Bible is my daily food, and I need it – or I suffer from malnutrition.  I seek to have a regular, daily quiet time.

PRAYING

Luke 6:5-18

Acts 12:1-18

Prayer is the air my soul breathes.  I can give thanks; pray for others; ask for forgiveness; be still in His presence; pray for the church leaders and members; intercede for the world.  Because of this I need to be part of the praying church, endeavouring to be a part of the church at prayer.

GOVERNING

Acts 15:28

Under God I am privileged to help in discovering and deciding what God would have His Church be and do.  That is why I should aim to be at the church meeting, as well as support and pray for the church leaders and ministers.

GIVING

Mal 3:8-10

2 Cor 9:6-7

I must give God what I can honestly afford recognising Old Testament Biblical guidelines of the ‘tenth’.  The more I receive, the more I can give.  God loves cheerful givers!

SERVING

Ro 12:1-8

I have gifts and talents ‘to use’ for serving God by serving others, so, I am practically involved in serving in my church and wider community, l will where possible get involved in serving in a church team.

BELONGING

John 17:20-26

Acts 2: 42-47

I belong, not only to my church family but where possible a member of a Home Group.  I am also a member of the people of Christ in the area, this country and in the world. I will not be critical or a gossip about other church members or leaders and will seek to resolve disputes in a biblical Christ honouring way.

WORKING

Col 3: 23,24

Because I belong to Christ, I can be a better worker; a better employer or employee; a better informed and more responsible citizen of God’s world.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Acts 4:30;

Rom 12:8

I recognise that I respond more to encouragement than criticism!   I consistently try to encourage fellow members and church leaders.
